On Saturday April 9th nearly all of the Licuala Writer’s were finally able to meet up for the first time after the cyclone. We caught up with members from Cardwell, Tully, Mission Beach and Mena Creek. Cyclone stories, writing stories and dreams, potential and actual upcoming practical workshops and a sneak peak of our recent anthology were on the agenda. Although mostly the meeting was informal, social and a chance for all our members to get to know each other. A glorious day, and yummy breakfast at Cafe Gecko added to an enjoyable day. We look forward to holding more cafe socials for writing members to mingle and enjoy each other’s company. Thankyou to all those who made it such a special morning.
Anyone wishing to join in our activities please contact us via facebook, this space or email and we will let you know about the literary calendar in North Queensland. We network with other groups like Tropical Writers, Book Creator’s Circle, and we are group members of the Queensland Writer’s Centre. Look forward to seeing you at future events. Membership is $20 for individuals and $30 for families.
