At our most recent meeting we composed a group poem using Renku format as a model. This provided a structure but also allowed us some creative movement. It was useful form for people who don’t usually write poetry. Our final product was a work called Transitions. We are now putting photographs with it for its inclusion in the poetry wall for the Ripple project. We also wrote some poetic replies to younger participants in the Ripple Project (www.ripplepoetry.wordpress.com).
The Licuala Writer’s Group is gaining new members at each meeting and they are adding to the vibrancy of our meetings.
Whilst we have begun with poetry workshops we will also be exploring the other interests of group members- which include life writing, websites and blogging, writing for children and much much more. We also look forward to exchanges with other writing groups in regional areas especially.
Our next meeting is 11th August at 1.30pm-3.30pm.
